Rectangular khaki-grey canvas ammunition pouch with two front flaps, each secured by a brass snap fastener. The back features a canvas strap and metal fittings for attachment to the Pattern 1937 web equipment system, allowing it to hang from the belt or brace attachments. The pouch interior is divided into two compartments designed to hold ammunition clips or magazines for rifles such as the Lee-Enfield No. 4.
The Pattern 1937 web equipment system was introduced by the British Army in 1937 and remained the standard throughout World War II. It was constructed from woven cotton webbing dyed khaki (or occasionally grey-green for certain branches) and was used by Commonwealth forces, including Canadian and Newfoundland troops.
