A collection of five skate egg cases, also known as mermaid’s purses.
Each capsule is rectangular to oval, with four elongated horn-like projections at the corners.
The outer surface is dark brown to black, leathery, and slightly translucent in thinner areas.
A few specimens retain fragments of fibrous material or seaweed attached to their tendrils, suggesting they were collected from a beach environment.
One specimen has a hole on its surface, likely the emergence opening from which the juvenile skate hatched.
