Medal Italy Star

Six-pointed bronze star-shaped medal suspended from a ring at the top. The obverse bears the Royal Cypher “GRI VI” of King George VI, encircled by the inscription THE ITALY STAR surmounted by a crown. The reverse is plain, as is typical of campaign stars.

The Italy Star was awarded to members of the British Commonwealth and Allied forces for operational service in Italy, Sicily, Greece, Yugoslavia, the Aegean, and southern France between 11 June 1943 and 8 May 1945.
