Six-pointed bronze campaign star suspended from a silk ribbon with broad green center stripe, flanked by yellow, dark blue, red, and light blue bands. The obverse features the Royal Cypher GRI VI for King George VI, encircled by the inscription THE PACIFIC STAR and surmounted by a crown. The reverse is plain.
The Pacific Star was awarded for operational service in the Pacific Theatre during the Second World War, from 8 December 1941 to 2 September 1945. Eligible recipients included members of the Royal Navy, Army, Air Force, and Merchant Navy who served in combat operations against Japanese forces.
The ribbon’s colors symbolize the jungle (green), the sun (yellow), and the naval, army, and air forces (blue, red, and light blue stripes).
