Helmet

Standard issue U.S. M1 steel combat helmet, painted in matte olive drab green. The helmet shell features a rimmed edge, front seam, and a single canvas chinstrap attached by metal clips. The interior liner is missing, revealing the steel shell’s dark interior.

This model of helmet was widely used by the United States military during the Second World War and throughout the Korean War. Known for its practical two-piece design—an outer steel shell and a removable inner liner—the M1 helmet offered superior protection and adaptability compared to earlier models.

The present example exhibits surface wear and paint loss, indicating extended field use or post-service storage.
