Helmet

A steel combat helmet painted in United Nations blue with the white letters “ONU” on one side and a faded UN emblem on the other. The surface shows scratches, abrasions, and areas of black paint over older markings. The interior contains a removable fibre liner with green cotton suspension straps and leather or fabric chinstrap attachments.

Originally a standard military helmet, this piece was repainted and marked for use by Canadian UN peacekeepers, part of international forces deployed under United Nations command during mid-20th century peacekeeping operations. The helmet’s blue colour identified personnel as neutral peacekeepers.
