Butter Churn

A two-gallon earthenware butter churn or storage crock, cylindrical in form with a slightly flared rim and two lug-style handles on either side. The interior is dark brown glazed, while the exterior is finished in a light beige glaze. The front features a simple cobalt blue “2” marking.

Both handles show signs of chipping, and the rim is worn and uneven from age and use. The vessel’s size and finish suggest it was likely used for storing butter, pickles, or other preserved foods.
