A hand-carved wooden grave marker, made from reclaimed shipwreck timber, commemorating John Spencer, master of the Lady Seaton. The marker consists of two vertical planks joined together, with a rounded top and rough, weathered surface. The inscription is carved in block letters by hand, unevenly spaced and deeply incised into the wood.
The piece shows clear evidence of exposure to the elements — cracks, salt bleaching, and surface erosion.
