Decontamination Mitt

A rectangular grey-green cloth mitt used for the decontamination of chemical warfare agents from personnel, weapons, and equipment. The item is made of treated, absorbent fabric impregnated with decontaminating compounds. The inscription indicates it was produced under NATO supply classification standards, with “4230-21” identifying it as Canadian issue.

Such mitts were part of standard issue NBC (Nuclear, Biological, Chemical) defense kits and were intended for one-time emergency use. Soldiers would wipe contaminated surfaces to neutralize or remove harmful agents after exposure in chemical warfare scenarios.
