Quilt Bars

Pair of long wooden quilt bars used for stretching or framing quilts during hand quilting. Each bar consists of a rectangular length of wood, with smaller end pieces nailed on to hold cross slats in place. The top edge of each bar is covered in dark blue canvas, fastened with nails along the length of the wood.

The fabric covering likely served to protect the quilt edges from splinters and help grip the fabric during the quilting process.
