Diving Oxygen Rebreather Hood

A World War II-era British oxygen rebreather hood, used for shallow-water diving operations. Constructed from heavy tan rubberized fabric, the hood features an integrated black breathing hose connected to a metal oxygen fitting at the front, with a black adjustable strap reinforced by metal grommets along the base for securing around the diver’s chest.

The design reflects the early development of self-contained underwater breathing systems used by British naval forces, including Chariot torpedo operators and other special operations divers. The rubberized surface is stiff and cracked from age, and areas of the fabric show signs of wear, salt exposure, and discoloration.
