Shell Casing (Anti-Tank Gun)

Empty shell casing from a British 17-pounder gun, used by both British and Canadian artillery units during the Second World War. The object is completely inert, containing no charge or primer.

Markings engraved on the base read:

“17 PR”, “LOT 1350”, “↑ II / 1944 C.A.”

These inscriptions identify the shell as a 17-pounder round, manufactured in 1944. The 17-pounder was a highly effective anti-tank gun, notably used on the Sherman Firefly tank and by Royal Artillery forces across Europe.
