Steel Helmet

Olive drab–painted steel combat helmet with a rolled rim and fixed chinstrap loops. The interior retains its olive paint finish and an attached khaki canvas web chinstrap with metal buckle. The liner is missing, leaving only the outer steel shell. Paint exhibits significant wear and chipping, exposing bare metal along the rim and crown.

This model is consistent with the M1 helmet design introduced by the U.S. Army in 1941 and adopted by Canadian and Commonwealth forces post-war. The helmet was standard issue for infantry and field personnel throughout World War II, the Korean War, and into the early Cold War period.
