Rectangular olive-green metal field telephone with hinged lid and brass latch closure. The lid interior features printed black and yellow operating instructions, including a wiring diagram and use directions for calling, receiving, and testing lines.
The telephone interior includes a hand-crank generator mechanism (similar to Morse key design), two binding posts, and a handset attached by a cloth-covered cord. The handset is black bakelite with circular receiver and mouthpiece ends, one of which retains a partial metal fitting ring.
Two canvas attachment straps are fixed on the back of the case, along with side hooks for a detachable shoulder strap.
This field telephone was designed for military field use, linking directly via wired connections to a switchboard or another unit.
