identifying it as awarded to Private W. J. Anger of the Canadian Army Service Corps, 11th Battalion, Military District 1.
The British War Medal was instituted to recognize all members of the British and Imperial forces who served between 5 August 1914 and 11 November 1918, including some post-war service up to 1920. It was typically issued together with the Victory Medal, and in some cases with the 1914–15 Star.
