White ensign featuring the Union Jack in the canton (upper left corner) and a red St. George’s cross on a white field. The flag is machine-stitched, made of lightweight woven fabric, and includes a reinforced hoist edge with rope lanyard and wooden toggle for attachment.
This flag design—known as the White Ensign—is traditionally used by the Royal Navy and, by association, the Royal Canadian Navy (RCN) prior to the 1965 adoption of the modern Canadian flag and ensign system. It was flown from naval vessels and shore establishments to denote official command and service identity.
